Chinese Zodiac

In Chinese astrology an animal represents each sign. Similar to the West there are 12 signs each corresponding with a lunar year. The year of birth that corresponds to each sign will be illustrated on your calendar and Care Cure Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine would like to give you a short personality snippet of each animal sign.

Rat – (1924 – 1936 - 1948 – 1960 – 1972 – 1984 – 1996 – 2008 - 2020)

The rat is intelligent, quick-witted and hardworking. Somewhat ambitious the rat is strongly family oriented, enjoys thrills but is easily bored. He is an opportunist who lives for the moment and rarely plans for the future. The talkative Rat is also a natural writer and critic with an eye for details.

Ox – (1925 – 1937 –1949 - 1961 – 1973 – 1985 - 1997 – 2009 – 2021)

Patient and meticulous, the ox is an excellent worker.  Oxen are ruled by conviction, and they are not often swayed from their beliefs. However, these traits also make the ox stubborn, and it makes it difficult for the ox to ask for or to receive assistance.

Tiger – (1926 – 1938 – 1950 – 1962 –1974 – 1986 – 1998 - 2010 – 2022)

The tiger is adventurous, confident and enthusiastic. Because of this they are very successful in their chosen careers. Tigers often go to extraordinary lengths to prove themselves, and hate to be ignored. Romantically, tigers are somewhat reckless, and can risk everything in pursuit of their heart's desires. As a friend they are extremely generous, and tend to give everything all at once.

Rabbit – (1927 – 1939 – 1951 - 1963 – 1975 - 1987 – 1999 –2011 – 2023)

Sensitive, Lucky, Smart, Rabbits love of beauty is often expressed in their impeccable dress sense. Rabbits have an aversion to suffering which often means that they will shut out the cruelties of the world, and retreat to their home and families. The rabbit is a good listener, and this, combined with its discretion makes it an excellent shoulder to cry on.

Dragon – (1928 – 1940 – 1952 – 1964 - 1976 – 1988 – 2000 - 2012 – 2024)

Dragons have strong personalities. They are self -assured and confident in their own abilities. They do not suffer fools easily, and become impatient with people who they perceive throw in the towel too readily. Dragons are usually averse to any form of routine, preferring the freedom to pursue their own individual agendas.

Snake – (1929 – 1941 – 1953 - 1965 – 1977 - 1989 – 2001 – 2013 - 2025)

The snake is a great thinker and philosopher with a strong sense of responsibility and a good sense of humour. On the downside the snake is a bit of a miser, and doesn't like to spend money. Graceful and soft-spoken, the snake has a natural partiality for the finer things in life and is famous for it’s beautiful skin and good looks.

Horse – (1930 – 1942 – 1954 - 1966 – 1978 – 1990 – 2002 - 2014 – 2026)

Horses are independent hardworking people who are generally well liked. The horse is a masculine sign, and both male and female horses are direct when asked for an opinion. In the home the horse is a steady partner, although they are likely to give as much attention to their work as to their families. Horses are romantic and fall in love easily.

Sheep – (1931 – 1943 - 1955 – 1967 – 1979 – 1991 - 2003 – 2015 – 2027)

The Sheep is gentle, caring and compassionate, quiet when hurt and strongly family oriented. Sheep love the good life, and their dislike for aggression and desire for peace stems more from their love of fine things and the realisation that to enjoy these things, peace is required. They make ideal performers, and are seldom bashful in front of a crowd.

Monkey – (1931 – 1944 – 1956 – 1968 – 1980 – 1992 – 2004 - 2016 – 2028)

Charming, cheeky, mischievous and ingenious, monkeys have little respect for authority, and often find themselves in trouble. Monkeys tell tall tales which you end up believing, however improbable. This helps them get out of difficult situations, and escape punishment for their mischief. Monkeys are blessed with great intelligence, and are capable of thinking through even the most complex problems.

Rooster – (1933 - 1945 – 1957 – 1969 – 1981 - 1993 – 2005 – 2017 - 2029)

Roosters are organised, excellent timekeepers and hard workers. They are faithful as friends, and very strongly family oriented. Despite this they can be outspoken and blunt, and not a little arrogant in giving advice, particularly when it is not asked for!   A little short of initiative at times, once Roosters find a task that fits their rigid temperament nothing will stand in their way.

Dog – (1934 – 1946 – 1958 – 1970 – 1982 – 1994 – 2006 2018 – 2030)

Dogs are idealistic, caring and loyal. Brave by nature, they hate injustice and do not shy away from confrontation. Stubborn, watchful and often defensive, dogs find it hard to understand the general indifference people have to the wrongs of the world. They are quick to point out this fault, and to criticise our lack of concern for the injustice.

Pig – (1935 – 1947 – 1959 1971 – 1983 – 1995 – 2007 – 2019 – 2031)

Well informed and social the pig loves a quiet life. Although they can be quick to lose their tempers, they are just as quick to make up, forgive and forget. Pigs love clothing and dress to impress becoming the trendsetters of fashion in both work and social situations. Pigs are greater talkers, and love gossip. In romance there is a tendency to fall in love very quickly.
