TCM For Pain

HEAL YOUR PAIN WITH NATURAL ENERGY

Pain is a prevalent problem that troubles people of all ages. The effectiveness of acupuncture for pain management has been strongly verified by large randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses.

Qi (energy) is the central underlying principle in acupuncture and other TCM techniques. TCM treatments are used to access qi which flows through acupuncture points, which are mapped along meridians (energy channels) on the body. Stimulating, manipulating, and utilizing the flow of this energy facilitates our body's own complex system of self-healing.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Fine needles are placed in specific acupuncture points which stimulate the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain, including endorphins, encephalin (a type of endorphin), and other neurochemicals. These natural chemicals can either change the experience of pain or trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones that influence the body's own internal regulating system. This can bring about a normalizing effect on neuroendocrine (nerve and hormone) function. The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture result in stimulating the body's natural healing abilities, thus promoting physical as well as emotional well-being.

Acupressure

Our treatment always combines acupuncture and acupressure (therapeutic Chinese massage) to achieve the best results for the alleviation of pain. Acupressure relaxes muscle tissue, which can reduce painful contractions and spasms. It is excellent for people with chronic pain due to a build-up of scar tissue or those with stiff, painful areas in the neck, shoulders, and back. Applying pressure can also relax muscles, tendons, and ligaments which can reduce nerve compression.

Cupping

Cupping is used to treat pain, ease scar tissue deep within muscles and connective tissues, and reduce swelling and muscle knots. Also, like many complementary treatments, cupping is supposed to minimize circulating toxins by drawing them into the skin where they are more easily removed.
