Why wrinkles form

Wrinkles are created by a decrease in collagen and elastin and by the overuse of certain muscles in the face along with the under use of others. This leaves some muscles in contracture while others remain loose, creating wrinkles in the skin. Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture is used to help release the tension in those tightened muscles and to support tone in the others. Inserting fine needles into the dermis is thought to bring circulation to the face, and research has looked at whether it affects collagen and elastin production.
