Ren Shen Yang Rong is a traditional Chinese herbal formula that was previously known as yangrong decoction,  it was originally prepared by Dr. Chen Yan, a doctor belonging to the Southern Song Dynasty.


This traditional Chinese herbal prescription has been recorded in the book “Treatise on Three Categories of Pathogenic Factors,” written in 1174. Subsequently, this decoction was named “Renshen Yangrong Decoction” in the book “Prescriptions of the Bureau of Taiping People's Welfare Pharmacy.”


This formula can:

  • Calms the Shen


This formula has been used to treat asthenic disease symptoms, such as exhaustion, and qi and blood deficiency diseases.


It not only promotes hematopoietic function and improve immune functions, but also alleviates coronary heart diseases, diabetic complications, malignant tumor, and brain injury.


It has a satisfactory curative effect on sleep disorders and fatigue.

Rx. Ginseng    Ren Shen 

Strongly tonifies source Qi, augments Qi of the Lung, Spleen and Heart, calms the
Shen, generates Body Fluids and relieves fatigue.

(Tonifies the Middle Jiao, augments Qi, tonifies the Lungs, restores the constitution and assists herbs that release the exterior or drain downward when there is significant Qi Deficiency, nourishes Blood and promotes the generation of Body fluids - Usually substituted for Ren Shen.)

Rx. Astragali    Huang Qi  

Strengthens the Spleen, tonifies Qi and Blood , generates Body Fluids, raises the Yang Qi of the Spleen and Stomach, tonifies the Lungs, and generates flesh.

Rz. Atractylodis Macrocephalae    Bai Zhu

Tonifies the Spleen, tonifies Qi and dries Dampness.

Poria    Fu Ling  

Benefits the Spleen by draining Dampness.

Rx. Angelicae Sinensis    Dang Gui 

Tonifies Blood, regulates the menses, invigorates and harmonizes the Blood, disperses Cold, moistens the Intestines, unblocks the bowels, reduces swelling, expels pus, generates flesh and alleviates pain.

Rx. Rehmanniae Preparata    Shu Di Huang  

Nourishes the Blood and nourishes Liver and Kidney Yin.

Rx. Paeoniae Alba    Bai Shao  

Calms Liver Yang, alleviates pain, Nourishes the Blood, regulates menstruation and astringes Yin.

Rx. Polygalae    Yuan Zhi  

Calms the Spirit and sedates the Heart and clears the channel joining the Heart and Kidney, reduces abscesses and dissipates swellings.

Fr. Schisandrae    Wu Wei Zi  

Replenishes Qi, astringes leakage of Lung Qi, nourishes Kidney Yin, astringes essence, stops diarrhea, astringes sweat, generates fluids, tonifies the Heart and calms the Shen.

Fr. Jujube    Da Zao  

Tonifies the Spleen and Stomach, augments Qi, nourishes the Blood, calms the Spirit and moderates and harmonizes the harsh properties of other herbs.

Cx. Cinnamomi    Rou Gui  

Warms the Kidneys, Spleen and Heart, strengthens the Yang and Ming Men Fire, disperses deep Cold, warms the channels, unblocks the channels and vessels, alleviates pain and assists the generation of Qi and Blood.

Warms the Middle and stops vomiting and reduces the toxicity of other herbs.


Rx. Glycyrrhizae    Gan Cao    

Tonifies the Spleen and augments Qi, assists in tonifying source Qi and moderates and harmonizes the harsh properties of other herbs.
